My Husband's Serving Overseas

For 16 years he played Army one weekend a month and two weeks a year. Then on 9/11 he came home, silently went upstairs and dragged his gear down from the 3rd floor, expecting the call that evening, I guess. That's when it hit me, "Oh, now I get it..."

Hard to believe, but Chris is still at Ft. Campbell, almost two months after being mobilized. Half his battalion's overseas, the other half is climbing the walls in western KY. We went down last weekend and spent a day in Nashville, truly a lovely city. They have a full-scale replica of the Parthenon in a park across from Vanderbilt University; incredible!

Supposedly they were in the queue for mobilization this week, but he called last night to say that he would be home this weekend. I guess it's better that he's here rather than there (wherever THERE is ;-) but I keep thinking: if they'd just deploy and get overseas, it will probably be 3-4 months rotation like everyone else so far and he'd be back in the summer...
